Effective Date: April 24, 2026
This document contains the Terms of Use for the Barkus mobile application and related services, as well as the Privacy Policy that explains how Barkus ("Barkus," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information.
By downloading Barkus, creating an account, signing in, using free or paid features, purchasing a subscription, or accepting this document in the app, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Important: Barkus is a software tool for expiration-date tracking, product and inventory records, workgroups, supplier/order records, reports, and reminders. It is not a substitute for physical product inspection, food safety controls, regulatory compliance, accounting, medical judgment, or any official audit system. You are responsible for verifying your products, records, inventory, and legal compliance.
These Terms of Use apply between Barkus and each person or organization that accesses or uses the Barkus mobile application and related services ("User" or "you").
The main purpose of Barkus is to help users record, monitor, and receive reminders for product expiration dates. The Services may also include barcode scanning, barcode and non-barcode product records, product photos, categories, stores, branches/locations, personnel fields, stock and daily inventory tracking, order lists, supplier records, workgroups, permissions, PDF/Excel reports, CSV barcode import, camera-based expiration-date reading, advertising-supported free use, and premium subscription features.
You may use Barkus only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
Product names, barcodes, photos, notes, stock quantities, expiration dates, categories, store/location/personnel fields, supplier records, order lists, inventory counts, CSV uploads, and workgroup data that you enter into Barkus are your user content.
You retain ownership of your user content. You grant Barkus a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, back up, display, process, share with authorized workgroup members, generate reports from, provide support for, and otherwise use your content as needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Services.
If you enter personal information or business data about third parties, you are responsible for obtaining any required notices, consents, authorizations, and legal bases under applicable law.
Barkus may send local notifications or push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging for expiration-date reminders, stock status, system updates, premium information, workgroup invitations, and similar service-related purposes. You can manage notifications in the app or through your device settings.
Camera permission may be required for barcode scanning and expiration-date reading. Media/storage permission may be required for product photos, report downloads, and file sharing. If you deny permissions, some features may not work.
Barkus may modify, suspend, discontinue, or limit any feature for security, performance, compliance, product development, technical, or business reasons. Planned or unplanned maintenance, network issues, operating-system changes, store/payment issues, or outages from third-party services such as Firebase, RevenueCat, Google, or Apple may affect the Services.
We may suspend or terminate access to your account or specific features if we reasonably believe there is a Terms violation, security risk, illegal use, payment issue, abuse, unauthorized access, or harm to Barkus, other users, or third parties.
You may delete your account in the app. Account deletion may permanently delete your personal products, product photos, and account data. Some information may remain for legal compliance, security, backups, dispute resolution, legitimate business purposes, or workgroup continuity. Records transferred to a workgroup owner or shared with a group may remain visible to authorized group members.
The Barkus name, software, interfaces, design, database structure, logos, brand elements, documentation, and all related intellectual property are owned by Barkus or its licensors. You receive only a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Services for personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Barkus will use reasonable efforts to provide the Services, but the Services are provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, or available in every location.
Expiration-date reminders, stock records, inventory calculations, and reports depend on the information you enter, your device permissions, your internet connection, operating-system notification settings, and third-party service availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Barkus is not liable for missed or delayed notifications, incorrect entries, lost inventory, product spoilage, business interruption, lost profits, reputational harm, indirect damages, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence where non-waivable, or mandatory consumer rights.
Barkus may interact with Google Play, Apple App Store, RevenueCat, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google AdMob, device operating-system services, email infrastructure, file viewers, sharing tools, Telegram communities, and other third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. Barkus is not responsible for third-party services that it does not control.
If you believe content in Barkus infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at t.gencosman@gmail.com with enough information to identify the material, your rights, and the requested action. We may remove or restrict content when appropriate.
For users in the United States, these Terms are intended to operate under applicable U.S. federal law and applicable state consumer, contract, privacy, and data security laws. Mandatory consumer protections in your state of residence are not limited by these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the app or on our website with a new effective date. For material changes, we may provide reasonable notice through the Services, email, or another appropriate method. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the updated Terms.

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
We do not sell personal information for money. Because Barkus uses advertising and measurement technologies, disclosures of advertising identifiers or app activity to advertising partners may be considered "sharing," "selling," or processing for "targeted advertising" under some state privacy laws. Where these laws apply, you may opt out by contacting us, using applicable device advertising settings, and using platform privacy controls where available.
We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining accounts, supporting subscriptions, preventing fraud, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and maintaining backups. To exercise your rights, contact us at t.gencosman@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and, if applicable, your authorized agent's authority before processing a request. We aim to respond within 45 days where required by applicable U.S. state privacy laws, and we may extend the response period when permitted by law.
For California residents, this section serves as a notice at collection. We collect the categories of personal information described in Section 2 for the purposes described in Section 4, disclose them as described in Section 5, and retain them as described in Section 7.
We collect identifiers, account information, commercial/subscription information, user content, internet or other electronic network activity, device/technical information, approximate usage and advertising information, and inferences needed to operate and improve the Services. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information beyond account login credentials and any sensitive information you choose to enter into free-text fields or images. We use such information only as needed to provide and secure the Services, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.
You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion may permanently delete your personal products, product photos, and account data. You may also request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy assistance by emailing t.gencosman@gmail.com.
Barkus uses notifications for expiration-date reminders, stock status, workgroup events, system updates, premium information, and optional promotional messages where permitted. You can disable notifications in the app or device settings. If notifications are disabled, expiration-date reminders and other alerts may not reach you.
Camera and media/storage permissions are used only to provide the features you choose, such as barcode scanning, expiration-date reading, product photos, report downloads, and file sharing.
The mobile app may use local storage and similar technologies to remember login state, language preference, selected workgroup, pending notification payloads, app settings, and feature preferences. Advertising and measurement providers may use mobile advertising identifiers and similar device technologies according to their own policies and your device settings.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete it as required by COPPA.

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, token-based authentication, authorization checks, backups, service-provider controls, and monitoring for errors and misuse. However, no method of transmission, device storage, cloud hosting, or electronic processing is completely secure.
You are responsible for protecting your device, account password, operating-system updates, and access to your email or store account.
If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will evaluate it and provide notices to affected users, regulators, or other parties as required by applicable U.S. federal and state data breach notification laws.
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including countries whose privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. When we transfer or process information internationally, we use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the service provider involved.
The Services may link to or interact with third-party services such as Google Play, Apple App Store, RevenueCat, Firebase, Google AdMob, Telegram, file-sharing tools, or email providers. Their privacy policies and terms apply to their processing, and we are not responsible for services we do not control.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will show a new effective date and will be posted in the app or on our website. For material changes, we may provide reasonable notice through the Services, email, or another appropriate method.
